Report death or illness in garden wildlife

Thank you for choosing to report an incident of illness or death in garden wildlife.
Selecting continue below will take you to the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Online Surveys which hosts the Garden Wildlife Health (GWH) database. You will be able to provide information about the incident and receive any feedback.
It will take around fifteen minutes to set up a garden, pond or other site and register your first incident.  Adding future incidents to this garden will be quicker once the original set up is complete.

How our work is funded

GWH receives funding from the UK Department for the Environment Food & Rural Affairs and Welsh Government through the Animal Plant & Health Agency’s Diseases of Wildlife Scheme Scanning Surveillance Programme (Project ED1600), the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare.
Where funds are required to support additional GWH research projects, partner organisations work in consultation with each other to obtain grants. The partner organisations and collaborating organisations will explore fund-raising opportunities to support GWH beyond the current funded-period.

Wildlife Disease
Surveillance Partnership

GWH contributes to the Great Britain Wildlife Disease Surveillance Partnership (GBWDSP). The GBWDSP is a forum for wildlife disease surveillance. Through biannual meetings, the partnership enables partners to collaborate and disseminate findings.
It reports to Defra and the World Organization for Animal Health informing policy on wildlife, domestic animal and human health.
